Q. Are there expansion plans for the airport?
A. There are no immediate expansion plans for the airport. However there may be improvements made to the airports infrastructure such as the building and renovation of new and existing hangars, a self fueling facility and the like. The FAA has also tentatively approved an Airport Capital Improvement Plan (ACIP) for the upcoming several years. Q. What is the Montgomery County Revenue Authority's responsibility at the airport?
A. The Montgomery County Revenue Authority (MCRA), as owner and federal grant sponsor, secures State and Federal funding for the Airpark and is responsible for the runways, taxiways, navaids, and other common areas.

All aeronautical activities including fueling, aircraft storage, aircraft maintenance, flight training, and related services are provided by separate fixed base operators (FBOs). For a full listing of services and contact information, please click on the Airpark Services Tab.

Q. Where does the Revenue Authority get its funds for operating the airport?
A. For capital projects such as electrical projects, runway and taxiway improvements, obstacle removal, etc., the FAA currently provides 95% of the necessary funding to pay for improvements. The remaining 5% is split between the Revenue Authority and the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA).

Q.What kind of security does the airport have?
A. GAI follows recommended Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security guidelines and has routine security audits performed by TSA inspecting personnel. GAI also participates in the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Airport Watch Program.

Q. To whom do I report suspicious (possible terrorist) activity?
A. Report suspicious activity to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) by calling (866) 289-9673 and/or the AOPA Airport Watch Program at (866) GA-SECURE. Also, please contact the Airport Manager at (301) 963-7100 after you've contacted the authorities.

Q. Does the Montgomery County Airpark have a liaison committee?
A. Formed in 1989 by the Montgomery County Council as a prelude to the Noise Abatement Policy, this committee meets on an as-needed basis in the Council Office Building. Its members are made up of various citizens and airport user groups and discuss airport issues including noise, flight patterns, Airport Layout Plans, Airport Environmental Assessments, infrastructure projects and changes, and other matters. At present, there are 16 members of this committee.

Q. Does the airport have a noise abatement program?
A. GAI has a published noise abatement program which has been in effect since 1992. This program resulted from a Part 150 noise study sponsored by the FAA and endorsed by the Montgomery County Council and other citizen and airport user groups. The program was updated and determined to be unchanged by the revised Airport Layout Plan completed in 2002 and the Environmental Assessment completed in 2004.

Q. Who do I contact regarding aircraft noise or unsafe flying?
A. Call the Flight Safety District Office (FSDO) of the Federal Aviation Administration at (866) TELL-FAA. You may also contact the Airport Manager at (301) 963-7100.

Q. Is the airport open at night?
A. Yes. GAI is a public use general aviation airport that is obligated, under its grant agreements with the FAA, which provide Federal funds, to remain open on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis.

Q. Whom do I call to find out about Aircraft Rentals, Flight Instruction, and Sightseeing Tours?
A. Montgomery Aviation provides aircraft rentals and flight instruction services, as well as sightseeing tours. They may be reached at (301) 977-5200.

Q. Can I take my dog to the airport?
A. You may take your dog to the airport only if you plan to take your pet with you on the airplane. Since the airport terminal is a public building and contains a restaurant, no pets are allowed.
